Letter To the Editor Ellsworth American October 2006

The 2nd Annual Jina's Gym Benefit Golf Tournament was held on Sat. Oct 7 at the Bar Harbor Golf Course, Trenton , under beautiful, sunny skies and mid-60's temperatures with 94 golfers participating. Many were from Ellsworth and surrounding areas, M.D.I. and several traveled from the Portland area. We wish to thank all those who participated.

Special thanks are expressed to the businesses who provided the great prizes and to the 42 sponsors of holes. Businesses in Ellsworth led the way followed by M.D.I., Lamoine, Trenton , Hancock, Franklin and Orland. Other sponsors were from Bangor , Portland , Texas , and as far away as Hawaii .

At the conclusion of the festivities a local, prominent family, who wish to remain anonymous, told wonderful news to Bob & Patti Haslam, Jina's parents, and her grandparents, Bill & Enid Neleski. They are donating a building lot in Lamoine. The proceeds of the sale will be added to the Jina Gym Fund. This news resulted in tears, hugs, and finally, beaming smiles from all involved. The only stipulation is that the sale not to be below $20,000 and preferably, to a family with children who will benefit from the new gym/event center which we hope to see in the not too distant future.

Hopefully, with this generous gift and our continuous fund raising events, more benefactors will help our cause.
