Our thanks to everyone who entered the Pet Photo Contest. Over 100 pictures were submitted, raising $540! The students of the Lamoine Consolidated School voted, and the results are below. You can scroll down or click on a category above to see the winners.

1st Place - Mama Horse & Baby by Jillian & Elise Dow, Happytown Rd., Ellsworth. This photo was taken April 19, 2006, moments after "Love aZiprize" was born to "JS Sweet Zipsation". "Prize" is part Quarter Horse and part Tennessee Walking Horse. When they bought mom, they didn't know she was having a baby, so she was a surprise.

2nd Place - Riley Rocket Sargent by Nancy Sargent, Lamoine Riley is a 3-year old male who's a mix of Husky and Chocolate Lab. Nancy's son Josh adopted rile as a 5-month old puppy. Nancy is a school board member in Lamoine. |

1st Place - Lucky by Michelle Moore. This picture was also voted 2nd best cat, 2nd most unusual, and tied for 3rd in best in show. Michelle writes that Lucky loves to drink out of the toilet, and thinks he's a dog. Another picture of Lucky is the best cat picture. |

Honorable Mention - "Boone" by Marissa Boynton, Lamoine. Boone Loves to go in the trash can. Marissa is a 6th grader at the Lamoine School. |

"Jerkey Terkey" by Tyeler Gray, Lamoine. Tyeler writes that "we got her and her brothers about a year and a half ago. Her brother died of old age. She thinks she's a chicken with 20 of them around her. |

1st Place - Angel & Starlite by Jane & Maya Parlee. This photo was taken when the kittens were 6-weeks old and had just been adopted from an animal shelter. They are still just as close as sisters can be. |
