Goat Farm Open House to benefit Scholarship Fund

On Sunday March 2 from 1-3 pm the Seal Cove Goat Farm on Rt. 204, Partridge Cove Rd. in Lamoine will host their 3rd annual open house to benefit the Jina Haslam Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was established for a high school graduate entering a veterinary program beginning 2009 in honor of Jina, who was killed in a car/bike accident 6 days after graduating from the 8 th grade at the Lamoine Consolidated School in 2005. Jina had worked at the goat farm since the age of 8 and was a valued assistant especially during the kidding season as she helped deliver and care for the new kids and knew the names and heritage of the entire herd. Her plans were to attend MDI High School and enter the pre-veterinary program at the University of Maine in Orono.

Come pet the new kids and their moms, visit the milking and cheese operations and enjoy cider and goat cheese samplings! A $5 per family donation is requested. Information: 667-7072.
