The meeting convened at 7:25 P.M. at the home of Stuart & Lisa Branch, 18 Bloomfield Park Rd. , Lamoine. Those attending were: Stuart Branch, Tyler Crawford, Patti Haslam, Brett Jones, Carol Korty, Bill & Enid Neleski, Robert Pulver, Tom St. Claire, John & Penelope Walls, Jim Willis. Absent were: Amy Duym, Heather Fowler, Mackenzie Curtis, Lisa Branch, Stu Marckoon, Connie Wallace.
Stuart Branch moved and it was seconded to approve the April 30 minutes emailed previously to the members; unanimously acceptance.
Enid gave the Treasurer's report from Heather Fowler; $14 was spent for checks. Also, Heather has received no updates from Eaton & Peabody.
Neither Bruce Cameron nor Linda Elliott attended; but will give input when appropriate.
Tom St. Clair updated us on the building materials donated by Associated Builders. Varco-Pruden will not allow an engineer's stamp. Tom will check with the Essex engineer for an approval stamp or another private engineer could look at materials and possibly stamp. He didn't think either case would be probable due to Company wanting to sell new materials and the possibility of liability. Costs of steel and enclosing the structure have increased significantly. Tom strongly advises that the materials be restacked, rust removed and primed to maintain its integrity and value; they can remain on site up to a year. When available, Associate Builders has offered their fork lift, which Tom will operate, After further discussion of materials value and future use for our needs, Patti Haslam moved and it was seconded to restack the materials, stabilize rust, and cover it with a tarp when feasible. Tom will coordinate project. Perry Fowler can help Tom move materials to his Sullivan property when they have slow time later in the year.
Associated Builders estimates the current scrap value at $12,000. They want a donation letter with a value of $25,000, their estimated re-sale value, when we receive our ID.
RSU update by Bob Pulver. It's still in flux but looks like Union 92 will continue and all schools remain as is. No school has room for additional students. If there are any changes, the Town will always retain ownership of the school and property. The School Committee agrees to have the funds moved to control of Corp. when ID is received.
Bob informally talked with renovation contractors and they believe there is sufficient room for a gym, but it will need a separate heating system; all other systems can be used. Additional discussion on types of heating systems and green buildings; Maine Energy is one Company. Brett suggested this group formulate a tangible plan.
Carol Korty spoke to Rep. Rob Eaton recently. He suggested his constituents sign the petition to repeal the Consolidation Law. If re-elected he plans to propose a bill to tie income and property values when figuring school funding.
The Golf Tournament will be held the last Sat. of September, 27 th . Rain date 28 th , Bill Neleski reported.
Bottle Drive will be Sunday, August 10, Patti to get copy of map and volunteers will be designated for certain areas. We'll be looking for volunteers with trucks. Tyler said he'd round up some volunteers. Stuart Branch to confirm date with Stacey Curtis.
Yard Sale: Carol Korty checked with the Grange. They would not allow use of the inside, but the outside; not feasible. No other site was determined. A motion was made and seconded to postpone the Yard Sale this year, all agreed.
Bottles from M.D.I. restaurants: Patti and Enid delivered letters. To date, those responding were: McKays's, 50% of proceeds from bottles this year. Little Anthony's, proceeds from June and July bottles. Bar Harbor Inn mailed $100, which I deposited.
Enid to ask Stu Marckoon to print a calendar for us, update the Jina Gym web page and publicize on the Town TV station of our existence and goal and the dates for the Bottle Drive and Golf Tournament. Also, I will write an article for the Lamoine Quartley.
Next meeting: Wednesday, July 23 at Branchs'. Adjournment at 8:55 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Enid Neleski, Secretary
